9 Things in April

Science – Mt Calbuco in Chile erupted yesterday. Some stunning photographs of ash, lava, and lightning:

A nice collection of information and images can be found here. However, the Nazca plate is an oceanic plate, and the Pacific Ocean is to the West of Chile.

Conservation – people are beginning to make wild speculation about Mt Calbuco’s eruption affecting climate.
This article has pretty well researched understanding of volcanic eruptions and their effect on the environment. To sum up, the eruption wasn’t big enough.

Politics

The US Supreme Court will begin proceedings about marriage equality April 28. People are praying for them to save marriage and others are hoping they’ll let anyone who love each other marry who they like.

Religion

Some Christians are being anti-gay and praying that SCOTUS will rule the “correct” way with regards to marriage equality or as they say “undermining marriage”.

Other religious people are busy not casting the first stone.

Fashion

Leggings are not pants unless paired with a long unfitted shirt. Under a skirt is still somewhat valid, though, it’s on it’s way out.  The large shirt is the difference between an attempt at dressy yoga and stunning fashionista.

Please double check that you can’t see your underpants through the leggings. The majority of leggings out today we’re not meant to be pants, but are leftovers from the footless tights thing.

To sum up: most leggings aren’t pants, and the rest are yoga pants in disguise.

Feminism – we should be able to wear whatever we want without being called sluts. The difference between this statement and the above commentary on leggings is that, for the most part, the showing of underwear through the leggings is unintentional.

Fandom

Gamergate is still going strong. *sigh*

Tabletop’s RPG show, Titansgrave, will be out soon-ish. Yay!

Dev n Tech

Apple watches are getting some bad reviews.

Gmail app (iOS) and the new inbox app from Google (iOS). Not sure I like the new one yet. Though, I do like that the new one is detected financial emails. That’s nice.

WordPress all for iOS gets leggy for longer posts like this one. Also, it is preventing the conversion of Twitter links to the pretty format. At the time of this posting, I have you skip to the next section.
